Samples of Our Sculptors Works

KD/“Kaha ka ‘Io me na Makani” (The Hawk soars with the Winds) Hilton Hawaiian Village, Gracefully striding the edge of a waterfall, these three, twice life size figures in bronze are dancing hula kahiko, the ancient style of Hawaiian dance. The two female dancers, the spirits of the wind, represent the dance and chant of Hawaiian hula. Together they are the winds that uplift the mighty ‘Io , the Hawaiian Hawk, the central male dancer, who represents the spirit of Hawai’i poised to take flight.
These images pay tribute to the importance of dance, chant and song in the rebirth and growth of Hawaiian culture. Together they celebrate the power of the hula connecting us with the spirit of the land, the Aina that is Hawaii.

Ma ka Lihi is a dramatic expression of a world in danger. Earth has found itself on the edge of a precipice gripped by the handoff. Man who himself is caught between extremes of hig own making. We are a bipolar species where we have inherited a mindset that sees the bounty of the Earth as booty for our benefit. We play with it as if it were a game and on closer inspection, the globe is, in actuality, a basketball. At the shoulder, the arm transforms into the wing of an eagle in flight representing that aspect of mankind that realizes the danger at hand and which strives to uplift the Earth from this ecological dilemma. We see both sides of our relationship to nature and are asked to choose. It is a snapshot of Man’s relationship to Planet Earth in the 21st century.

KD "Bronze 56" Sculpture

Aina … the sculpture hewn from granite the color of polished warm sand. It is a cycle of the elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water, those very elements that continuously shape all that surrounds us. Inspired by the classic Hawaiian ring poi pounder, pohaku ku’i ai puka, this monumental ten ton arch floats on the surging waters that erupt around its three ton, black and red granite bowl or papa ku’iai and cascade down the lava rock he’eau that surrounds it. Cutting across the top of the ring is the carved profile of the islands surrounded by a moat of water that spills on either side down the roughly textured channels that flair to its base reminding us of Hawaii’s many stunning waterfalls. Within the center of the arch which defines the element of Air there is a central flowing well of Water that overflows on either side in textured flaring channels into the bowl. Emerging from the center of this well and framed by the arch of granite burns the element of Fire.

Stiches celebrated a uniquely beautifier form of Hawaiian lava called pahoehoe. 3 demential interpretation of a photo. The texture and way the glowing red undercurrents also speak to the occasions where pahoehoe forms a ropey crust but remains liquid underneath the surface.

9" X 22" X 1.5", SAND SCRAWL is a wood sculpture that celebrates The Master Artisan's ever-changing sand-sculpture scrawled into the beaches of the world. The simple
yet gorgeous textures and forms carved into this endless sand-canvas are some of the most wondrous sights on the planet. Of course, The Master Artisan uses water
and wind to shape and smooth the infinite grains in a continual dance of creative beauty. Even the occasional starfish and sand dollar play into His artwork, interacting
with the forms in a sublime act of beauty-making. As a merely human artist, I'm joyfully humbled by the profound brilliance of The Master Artisan's technique and results.
To honor Him, I choose wood with a grain pattern that mirrors the undulating contours of sculpted sand. Then, I use various carving and sanding techniques to shape the
wood, taking care to account for its interplay with the sea creatures that I've placed in the composition. What He does in a moment takes me much, much longer. Still, I
hope that you appreciate the result and celebrate the original that inspired it.Radiant Pine forested from Sustainable-Sources

This joyful piece was inspired by one of my favorite delights - wading in clear coastal water
while surrounded by flashing schools of little bay anchovies. To me, those moments are magical. They
make me feel like a kid - full of wonder and amazement. It makes me feel like l'm part of one of God's
live art performances. In this piece, I carefully sculpted each fish and arranged them in a way that hints
at their schooling artistry. When I saw the completed sculpture for the first time, I felt a hint of the
childlike joy I feel when I'm wading. I invite you to come in and experience this beauty with me.
